Takeo(ខេត្តតាកែវ) is a province in the southwest of Cambodia and far about ~78km away from Phnom Penh capital and borders to the Kandal province, Phnom Penh capital, Kompong Speu province, Kampot province, Kep province, and the Vietnam border.

Takeo is a province located in the south of Cambodia and also a potential tourism site in the country. The province has a town called Doun Keo and its symbol is Independent Monument. Even if Takeo is less foreign tourists but most popular for local tourists.

Takeo is full of Khmer cultures because it is an origin place of Khmer culture and the oldest area among the others 25 provinces of Cambodia. Truely, the province has many masterpieces left such as ancient temples and cultures which has passed many centuries of age. These are all evidences showing the strength of empire and as well as the improvement of the province in the past.

Takeo has its borders next to Kampot province in the west, Kandal province in the east and the north, International Border Cambodia-Vietnam in the south, and Kampong Speou province in the west-north. The province is far away about 76 kilometres from Phnom penh starting from Takeo independent monument to Wat phnom round about of Phnom penh. We can make a journey from Phnom penh to Takeo along the nation road 3 and 2.

Basically, the province relies on fishing, rice agriculture, fruit crops, and hand-made souvenir products which mostly create with a good quality and useful for home decoration and general everyday usages. The products includes: Houl, Pamuong, Krorma, silk, and so on…which made by local women especially in Samrong district. But the most potential point for the province is the tourism site which is a great source of government and as well as the local residents because of the place has got natural, historical sites, especially ancient temples attract tourists to visit and make a research for study. Moreover, it is also a  place for relaxing with many beautiful views and fresh air making tourists enjoyable on holiday and weekends.

Taking about types of tourism, the province has natural, cultural, and recreational tourism. However, cultural tourism is the most popular site in the place because the province is the oldest origin of Khmer culture and has many famous ancient temples. And for the natural tourism includes national park, mountain, waterfall, and a lot of natural views with attractive landscapes for tourists. Besides these, some of the recreational tourism such as zoo, resorts,…and so on. which mostly create for needs of tourists.
