Siem Reap(ខេត្តសៀមរាប) is a province in the northwestern part of Cambodia and far about ~314km away from Phnom Penh capital and borders to the Kampong Thom province, Battambang province, Banteay Meanchey province, Oddar Meanchey province, Preah Vihear province, and Tonle Sap.

Siem Reap is a province bordering to Tonle Sap Lake in the northwestern part of Cambodia and is one of the most potential tourism destinations in the country and abroad. It is a major tourism industry center because the area is popular destination to the world famous temple of Angkor Wat. The province has a town called Siem Reap and its symbol the Neak Pean Roundabout. Siem Reap is now a modern city because of the increasing number of hotels, restaurants, shops, supermarkets…etc.

In the past, the province was under colonial rule from many foreigners, so that the province is well known for many foreigners, but there are also many tourists who wonder why has the Khmer ancestor named this province "Siem Reap"? The reason is that the area of ​​Angkor was invaded by the Siamese, and then the Khmer armies of King Ponhea Angchann or Emperor succeeded in the Siamese army who had completely invaded the Angkorian Empire, which had demolished the Siamese armies as the level of land, the ancestors of the Khmer named the province as Siem Reap. In addition, historians have similarly stated that the word Siem is related to a country that is now translated into Thai as the word crush means lose.

Siem Reap Province has its borders next to Banteay Meanchey in the West, to the east by Kampong Thom Province with Preah Vihear Province, North by Province Oddar Meanchey with Preah Vihear province, and to the south to Battambang with Tonle Sap. The province is approximately 316km from Phnom Penh, from the Neak Pean roundabout (Siem Reap) to Wat Phnom (Phnom Penh).
