Kratie(ខេត្តក្រចេះ) is a province in the northeastern part of Cambodia and far about ~315km away from Phnom Penh capital and borders to the Kampong Cham province, Kampong Thom province, Stung Treng province, Mondulkiri province and the Vietnam border.

Kratie is a province in the eastern part of the Mekong River and is located in the northeastern hilly part of Cambodia, and is rich in cultural, historical and natural areas. It has a town called Kratie and its symbol the Kratie Town Roundabout.

Kratie has left some ancient temples including: Neang Pov (in Sambok commune), Preah Theat Kwan2 (in Kratie district), Tuol Trapeang Thmor (in Sambor in the east) Prasat Pram, Prasat Koh Kring and many temples which unknown their names because they have been completely broken. All this confirms that Kratie has many historical and cultural properties for researchers to learn more. Kratie also used to be under French colonial.

Kratie Province borders Kampong Cham and Kampong Thom in the west, to the east by Mondulkiri, to the North to Stung Treng Province and to the South with Tbong Khmum and Vietnam. The province is about 258km from Phnom Penh, starting from Kratie round about (Kratie) to Wat Phnom (Phnom Penh), traveling from Kratie, along National Route 73, connecting to National Road Number 8 and linked to National Road 6.

Kratie is rich in natural resources such as wildlife sanctuaries, rice fields, fish especially, there are freshwater dolphins that attract national and international tourists.

For freshwater dolphins in the area, it is a rare type of fish in Cambodia, and in the world as well. In addition, the area is also inhabited by ethnic minorities such as Pnong, Stieng, Kuoy, Khonh, Meol, Krol, Thmoun etc.

For tourism, Kratie has many attractive and interesting places for visitors because it is rich in cultural heritage, history, civilization and natural resources, attracting the attention of local and international tourists to visit and research about Khmer history. Kratie is a small town, beautifully decorated with luxurious buildings and some of them has remained the rest from French colonial.

For types of tourism, this province includes: natural, cultural and recreational tourism. However, natural tourism is the most popular in the area because this province is rich in natural resources and unique natural landscapes. Besides, for recreational tourism, there are also a number of resorts to cater to the needs of leisure travel.
