Kep(ខេត្តកែប) is a province in the southwestern part of Cambodia and far about ~174km away from Phnom Penh capital and borders to the Kampot province, Takeo province, the gulf of Thailand and the Vietnam border.

Kep is one of the smallest provinces along the coast in the southwestern part of Cambodia and is the most potential tourist area in the country. The province has a town called Kep City and its symbol is Woman waiting for husband. The woman sculpture is sitting in front of the sea waiting for her husband who went apart from her. She looks like very upset with a deeply meaningful story.

Kep was originally under French colonialism, and it has been transformed into a luxury coastal city since the Sangkum Reas Niyum. According to some documents, the name of Kep came from the French word Le cap, which came to be Khmer, Cape This means that the soil grows to sea.

Kep has an eastern boundary about 20 kilometers from Vietnam border, the south borders to the Gulf of Thailand and Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam). In addition, the territory is completely surrounded by Kampot. The province is about 171km from Phnom Penh, starting from bus station (Kep province) to Wat Phnom (Phnom Penh) on National Highway No. 31 connected to National Road 3.

Basically, the province depends on fishing and farming of some crops such as pepper, salt, fruit, durian, mango, coconut and rambutan. Regarding the potential of tourism, the province is a very famous place for international and national tourists because the site is located along the coast, a lovely place to visit.

For types of tourism, this province includes: natural and recreational tourism. However, natural tourism seems to be the most popular in the area, because the province is a forested area, seaside, mountains, islands, mountain caves and with other natural landscape views. Besides, there are many recreational resorts designed to cater to the needs of leisure travels.
